On December 22, 2011, on their 3 year anniversary, Will showed Emily a large wrapped box he had set on their guestroom bed. He said it was her anniversary present that she could open later. They went off to eat at the Melting Pot (their annual anniversary tradition), and when they got home, Will told her to go into the guestroom and wait two minutes. She did as he said, but after two minutes she wasn't sure what to do! She called Will's name, but there was no answer. She called his phone to ask what she was supposed to do, and he said, "Open the box!" So she unwrapped the box, and when it opened, two balloons came floating out with a note attached.
The note said some very sweet things on it, and at the end, it said that her real present was in the backyard. She raced out the back door to find Will in between two lit tiki torches, red roses set on the side and a ring in his hand. Will said some things (that she can't exactly remember since she was so excited) and then got down on his knee and asked her to marry him. All she could do was run to him and hug him! She finally managed to get out "of course!" Since Christmas was just a few days away, they waited and surprised their family and friends with the news in person!
